STEPABLES® Second
Annual Contest Gets Consumers into the Garden
Under A Foot Plant
Company™ and its STEPABLES® plant brand launch philanthropic
photo contest for nationwide independent garden centers and their customers
Salem, Ore. –
January 18, 2008 – Under A Foot Plant Company™ and its national
brand of creeping perennials, STEPABLES®, announced today the launch
of the second annual “We’ve Got Sole™” plant display
contest, now offering consumers as well as independent garden center employees,
the chance to win prizes and donations for their favorite local charities.
“The ‘We’ve
Got Sole™’ contest has expanded in order to strengthen meaningful
industry relationships while giving back to the community,“ said
Frances Hopkins, founder and president of Under A Foot Plant Company™.
“It is a way for STEPABLES® to help garden centers connect with
their customers and grower-suppliers, and motivate consumers to garden.”
Nationwide independent
garden centers carrying the line of plants are eligible to participate
in the contest by submitting digital images of their store’s creative
display gardens featuring STEPABLES® varieties and STEPABLES®
retail displays using the Good For Your Sole® point-of-purchase materials.
New to this year’s contest, garden centers are invited to inspire
customers to participate by creating their own STEPscape™ displays.
Consumers can design and fashion their home’s walkways, patios,
banks, or water gardens with STEPABLES® plants, and then submit digital
images of their creativity for a chance to win various prizes for themselves
and donations to local charities of their choice.
Garden center winners
will be chosen for the best STEPABLES® displays from the following
categories:
• “Definitive”
STEPABLES® display – A creative, eye-catching, garden center
display with STEPABLES® plants and POP materials.
• “Supporting
STEPscape™” display – A display using STEPABLES®
plants in a landscape application, such as walkways or water gardens,
to give consumers creative ideas.
• “Use
of Space” display – An innovative garden center display that
maximizes the use of designated floor and shelf space to boost sales.

Consumer winners will be selected for best “Water-Wise STEPscape™,”
best “Walkway, Path or Patio STEPscape™” and best “Hillside
or Slope STEPscape™.” Additional information on contest rules,
regulations, prizes, and photo categories can be found on the STEPABLES®

Independent garden
centers may enter the contest and receive a “We’ve Got Sole™”
retail kit by submitting an entry form to their authorized STEPABLES®
grower-supplier. Hopkins notes the following general information for interested
garden center owners and managers:
• Garden center
photos are eligible for submission from Feb. 1 through June 1, 2008. Winners
can win up to $5,000 in donations payable to the charity of their choice
and $250 in STEPABLES® product gift certificates for their garden
center and staff. Winners will be announced July 15, 2008.
• Consumer photos
are eligible for submission from March 1 through July 31, 2008. Winners
will receive $500 payable to the charity of their choice and $500 worth
of gift certificates for themselves.
