STEPABLES® Announces New Creeping Perennial Plant Varieties
as Lawn Alternatives for 2008

STEPABLES® presents 2008 creeping perennial offerings and landscape solution story ideas at the Garden Writer’s 59th Annual Symposium in Oklahoma City, Okla.

SALEM, Ore. – Sept. 14, 2007 – STEPABLES®, the national plant brand of over 140 varieties of creeping perennials, will present new 2008 plant varieties and continuing plant offerings at the 2007 Garden Writer’s Association (GWA) Annual Symposium, held Sep. 28 through Oct. 1 in Oklahoma City, Okla. The plants will be displayed in the Under A Foot Plant Company / STEPABLES® brand exhibit hall booth with a showcase that incorporates an array of variety selections, landscape application possibilities, and story and concept ideas for articles and other media. Attending GWA members will also have the ability to test the durability of the aptly named plant material on display by literally stepping and walking on it.

STEPABLES® representatives will be present to share information about the available plant varieties and related landscape solutions for homeowners and professional landscape companies at exhibit booth number 66. Interviews can be prescheduled to take place at set intervals during the four-day event by emailing or calling the contact(s) stated at the top of this release.

The new 2008 STEPABLES® plant product line-up, with complete marketing and merchandising support for independent garden center retailers, will include the following varieties:

• NEW: Fragaria x. 'Lipstick' (Ornamental Pink Strawberry)
• NEW: Gypsophila 'Rosea' (Pink Creeping Baby’s Breath)
• NEW; Herniaria 'Sea Foam' (Golden Marjoram)
• NEW; Origanum 'Aureum' (Striped Rupturewort)

These new varieties will complement the existing 140 STEPABLES® creeping perennial offerings for sun and shade that withstand various levels of foot traffic and serve as lawn substitutes and alternative landscape solutions.

STEPABLES® varieties are perfect for lawn replacement projects. For ornamental purposes, most STEPABLES® will work as a full lawn substitution. If the planting area will be used for high foot traffic activities (such as family football games and animal areas), there is a large number of applicable varieties. Each plant’s foot traffic level is indicated on the individual plant tag. Planting and spacing calculators are available for use at www.stepables.com.
