# STEPABLES — Under A Foot Plant Company

STEPABLES is a registered trademark brand of foot-traffic-tolerant ground cover plants, developed and sold by Under A Foot Plant Company in Salem, Oregon. Founded by Fran White in 1999, the company has spent 25+ years identifying, testing, and bringing to market plants that survive and thrive under regular foot traffic — a need the nursery industry had largely overlooked.

Fran White is the founder, horticulturist, and author behind the STEPABLES concept. Her work began with a simple question: why are there so few plants rated for the spaces people actually walk through?

We offer 180+ creeping perennials and ground covers in two lines:
- STEPABLES Creeping Perennials: low-growing plants for pathways, between stepping stones, patio gaps, and anywhere people walk
- All Terrain Ground Covers: tougher spreading varieties for slopes, curbsides, large areas, erosion control, and lawn replacement

Each plant is rated across 15+ attributes including foot traffic tolerance, sun exposure, hardiness zone, growth rate, bloom time, flower color, water needs, and deer resistance.
