Thymus praecox Red Creeping Thyme

THYMUS PRAECOX RED CREEPING THYME

Thymus praecox 'Coccineus'

Red Creeping Thyme DROUGHT-WISE
Thymus praecox Coccineus
is yet another one of our "best of the best" and is included in our Tough Ten STEPABLES Creeping Perennials line. Red Creeping Thyme has soft aromatic foliage that is covered with bright, reddish pink flowers that fade to light pink throughout the summer. Deep green foliage gives way to bronze as weather turns cold. Red Creeping Thyme is a very versatile creeping perennial that will cover dry slopes, creep around roses, excellent between stones and pathways. It even works perfectly as a lawn substitute. This thyme needs sharp drainage to succeed. Over watering will impair growth.

Gardening Tips from Fran

Red Creeping Thyme holds its own in any landscape, that why it’s on our Tough-Ten list. Red Creeping Thyme is very versatile around pavers, works excellent as a lawn replacement plant for a fairy garden  and will cover any rockery area you have. It works well all over the United States and pretty much can take whatever situation you have. Definitely a “go-to” plant if I ever saw one.

**Many of our plants are listed as Not a Good Fit for Kid Traffic/Dog Traffic/Around Pools. These plants will work fine around these spots. However, please keep in mind that many people (and animals) have allergies to bees or fragrances. While the plants may work perfectly in the area that you have determined, blooms may need to be sacrificed, or a different plant may need to be determined in order for the area to be used free of concern.
