Colorful Focal Point Planting Areas

Creating a focal point in the landscape is truly one of the best "go to" design techniques when you are building a new lansdcape or revamping an old one. Every yard needs a hero element to capture your eye and give you that WOW moment.

You can build a key feature with rock, metal or wood or simply use plants to create a focal point. Either way, you will enrich the experience in your yard by focusing your attention to one key spot and then building off of that main element.

Note: Keep an eye on textures, line and form when designing your landscape. Ground covers only bloom for a few weeks, so designing with the plant out of bloom and focusing on the other aspects of the plant will be important for all year interest.

Adding STEPABLES to any hardscape feature will soften those rough edges and give your design element that "finishing" touch. You can also use STEPABLES to "magnify" the importance of your key plantings by using them as understory plantings in a supporting role.
Many All Terrain Ground Covers are ideal to use as focal points in your landscape. Because ground covers give off such an outstanding blast of bloom, use them to make an area "stand out".  You can also use them as companion plants in a supporting role to intensify color, texture and form.
